Music

The Trumansburg music department serves all students K – 12.  In elementary school, students experience music through general music classes; learning to sing, play instruments, create music and connect with what they do in their classrooms.  3rd and 4th grade chorus is the first experience singing in a large ensemble.  In middle school (grades 5 – 8), students may join band and/or chorus.  In fifth grade, students begin to learn an instrument and band begins the second marking period.  All students through 6th grade have general music in addition to band and chorus.  Beginning in 7th grade students can decide to take band/chorus or general music.  Our high school program offers music to any student who is interested.  We have mixed chorus, vocal jazz, concert band and jazz band for our ensembles.  Music credit may also be achieved through music electives; guitar class, music theory, AP music theory, and in the future – modern band.
