World Language

"You can never understand one language until you understand two."

~Geoffrey Willans

We in the World Languages department share the core belief of the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL): that language and communication are at the heart of the human experience. Twenty-first century students must be linguistically and culturally prepared to communicate in pluralistic societies at home and abroad, and to compete in the global marketplace.

Trumansburg students begin language instruction in the 7th grade. To receive an Advanced Regents high school diploma, students continue language courses throughout their secondary school experience. TSCD also offers students the opportunity to pursue the New York State Seal of Biliteracy, a prestigious honor indicating Intermediate High proficiency in a World Language.
